What's New

Rookie 2 took place on the 18th July. John Turner won the 2nd rounnd but there was a tie for first place between Mick Addington and John Turner for the overall competition. On this occasion the points of the 4 best flights were taken into account and so John Turner took the trophy home. Congratulation to both "winners". Full results on the "Competitions" page. Picture in the gallery.

Congratulations to Alan Smedley for winning the first round of the Rookie comp held on Sunday 6th June. Full results are on the "Competitions" page and there are pictures in the gallery. Thanks to the 9 competitors and all those that turned up to help, making the day was a great success!

Congratulation to Mark Chaplin for winning the Electric Fun-Fly held on 16th May - Full results on the "Comps" page and pics in the gallery.

29 March - The field is now open - enjoy!

26 March - Following the recent government's roadmap for ending the current lock-down: The BMFA has advised that flying fields can re-open from 29 March. They have also advised that the groups of 6 rule (i.e. North and South sectors) will now NOT apply (see quote from BMFA below).  However, signing in and out and social distancing rules will apply. These rules will apply until further notice unless the BMFA advises otherwise before the 29th March.  Watch this space for any announcements. Please continue to check this website before setting out to the field.

Model flying club sites can reopen from Monday 29th March: Where a club is operating in a COVID secure manner and has implemented the BMFA 6 Steps to Covid security guidance in full (see ) the gathering limits (Rule of 6) do NOT apply: see

Please note that your new (very long) CAA opertor number must be displayed on all models but the CAA has confirmed that this new number will NOT be changed every year. The CAA regrets that this number is so long but it is regulated by an EU directive that the UK (DoT) agreed adopt since the UK formally left the EU. (if it is any consolation, the guy from the CAA also thinks the length of the number is daft)

-* By now all members should have received their CAA operator ID number. No model should take to the air without this number on the aircraft is accordance with the CAA's requirements. These can be found here

* The code to the flying field gate was changed on 1st January every year. The new code is on the membership card. The code to the electric forest gate (when it's working) or a combination lock when fitted, remains unchanged. Any questions contact a member of the committee or click here to e-mail.

Only those that have indicated that they would like to be on our mailing list will receive update e-mails from NVA - contact the webmaster if you have any questions.

*A privacy policy has been incorporated into the club's constitution in order to comply with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) legislation. This policy can be found on the "Rules" page and scrolling down to Section 5.

*Para 3.16 has been added to the constitution/rules document. This notes that members must comply with the CAA registration requirements. This addition was passed unanimously by member vote at the 2019 AGM *Reminder - Only paid-up members and those registered as operators with the CAA are insured.

The 2021 membership form can be downloaded here.

* No member (fixed wing or helicopter) should fly unsupervised unless they hold at least a BMFA "A" certificate . Members wishing to take the relevant test should contact Andy Hibbert or Dave Harbour to arrange a suitable time with an examiner.
